Guide
Open your Instagram link in Safari or Chrome.
A link tapped in Instagram or TikTok opens in the app’s own browser, not the phone’s. For a creator that is where sales get lost. Here is why, and how to get the link out.
Why it matters
The in-app browser is a clean room: people aren’t signed in to your shop, your subscriptions or your checkout there, their saved cards and passwords are not there, and some pages do not work in it at all. Every extra step — signing in, typing a card — loses people. In Safari or Chrome they are already signed in, and paying is a tap.
By hand
People can move the page themselves:
- Instagram on iPhone: tap ••• at the top right, then Open in external browser.
- Instagram or TikTok on Android: tap ⋮, then Open in Chrome.
- TikTok and other apps on iPhone: tap •••, then Open in browser.
Most people won’t. That is why the link should do it for them.
Automatically, with restof.me
restof.me’s Deeplink asks each app in the way that app allows:
| Tapped in | What happens |
|---|---|
| Instagram, iPhone | Instagram asks to open Safari; the page opens there. |
| Instagram or TikTok, Android | The page opens straight in Chrome. |
| TikTok, iPhone | A one-button page: hold the button and Safari opens. |
| Other apps | The page opens in the app with a small hint where “open in browser” is; sensitive links open in the phone’s browser (on an iPhone, with a long press). |
Set it up in a minute

Questions
Why does Instagram open links inside the app?
Instagram, TikTok and most social apps open links in their own in-app browser so people stay in the app. That browser has none of the phone’s logins, saved cards or passwords.
Can a link open in Safari by itself?
Not with a plain link: the app decides. A link-in-bio page like restof.me asks each app, in the way that app allows, to hand the page to the phone’s browser.
Does it work with my own domain?
Yes. Deeplink works the same on restof.me/yourname and on a domain of your own.
Is it free?
For creators and small teams, yes: up to 20 links a workspace, with Deeplink on every one.
